The commission consisting of Mr. Lojze Wieser (Austria), prof. dr. Janez Bogataj, President (Slovenia) and Mr. Jožko Sirk (Italy) unanimously awarded the Jakob Award 2020 to the Posavje Castles program. The committee’s statement reads: “They are connected in the common project with their different contents. This connection is exceptional and innovative for the current Slovenian circumstances where we often close ourselves behind the castle walls. The Posavje Castles are thus seeking their new identities and developing contact with the local and regional cultural environment. ”On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the award, named after the first tourist, traveller – the pilgrim Jakob, they introduced some novelties. The Commission has now shortlisted up to five programs. This year they are: The Expert Tour of the Raka Castle; The Podsreda Castle – Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow; Where the History Comes to Life – the Bled Castle; The Trebnik Mansion Between the Past and the Present; and The Posavje Castles, which also received the title Ambassador in the field of innovative tourist contents and programs in castles and mansions in 2020. The inauguration and award ceremony of the Jacob Award 2020 will be held at the official opening of the fair on the 29th of January at 13.00 at the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre.
